Telecom HighwayDenmarkDenmark is one of the countries in the world with the largest number of mobile subscribers per residents. To satisfy the customers with not only the newest in mobile communication but also the best quality the mobile operators have to be on top of things. Therefore the expanding of the networks is a continuous process for the operators. Ramboll Telecom have for over five years assisted a danish mobile operator with radio planning, site acquisition, supervision and general rollout management. Building a telecom base station is a long process regarding to timeline. Every new telecom base station starts with radio planning of the desired coverage for the area. Next is to find the appropriate candidate which could be either an existing construction (ie. a tower, building, chimney etc.) or a new telecom structure (tower, monopole or more specialised solutions like flagpole or fake chimney). When the appropriate candidate has been found the lease negotiation with the owner and the steps to receive a building permit takes over. When an agreement with the owner have resulted in a signed lease agreement and the proper permits have been received from the municipalities the site can be constructed and put online and start sending and receiving GSM and/or UMTS traffic. During the years Ramboll Telecom have designed more than 50 sites for the danish mobile operator and have delivered more than 500 sites on the site acquisition. The project engages around 15 persons. |
